worst. news conference. ever

That's just me channeling Comic Book Store Guy from the Simpsons, 'cause there's no other way to describe it.

Roland Burris's press conference was kinda a disaster. Disclaimer: I am aware that I have a consuming obsession with Roland Burris, and Blagojevich, and the Obamas, and those famous cookies in Iowa that the Obamas love so much. Blame it all on Chicago the musical. I've just loved Illinois politics ever since.
Which is why as soon as I heard Burris's gravelly non-voice, I immediately cranked up the volume.

I would like to think it did not go as expected for Burris. But there's a part of me that suspects that Burris himself does not realize just how badly it went.

Best (or worst?) moments:
-Burris referring to the "people of Illinois" in each breath (I lost count at 12, but then, I never was good at this kind of tally, as I learned the hard way during the 'Joe the Plumber' fiasco of '08).
-Burris frequently asserting that he is 'the solution to the problem.'
-Burris referring to himself as 'Roland Burris' (maybe he's just sad that for the first time in 30, there is no Dole in the Senate and he's trying to channel him?)
-and the winner: In response to a question about whether he was disliked the negative press attention: "As a matter of fact, I'm happy! I am happy on behalf of the people of Illinois."

They're flattered at all the attention, I'm sure. For now, though, I think the 'people of Illinois' need a drinking game a la "Joe Sixpack."
